Here is a Starrett No. 436 - 5" to 6" outside  micrometer that is in excellect condition. It has been used so you will find a few minor cosmetic imperfections but nothing that will hinder its usefulness. This micrometer has been modified by someone who knew what they were doing. As you can see in the last photo this modification has been done professionally, maybe by Starrett themselves. Whomever did it also printed some numbers on the backside of this micrometer. Hopefully this modification will be helpful to you. Otherwise is still works just like a normal micrometer. The thimble spins easily without any hesitations. Smooth! The lock and ratchet work perfectly, just as designed! The carbide faces look as if they were mirrors. This is demonstrated by the reflection of the dollar. Everything will work perfectly for you! I guarantee it!The plastic protective box has done a very good job of protecting this micrometer. It has just a few minor scratches suffered from doing its job. It opens easily, latches shut, and holds these tools securely. It will continue to protect your micrometer for many years to come. A 5" Starrett standard,  a small wrench for making minor adjustments and some of the original paperwork is included.
